Summary of Position

This is a full time position teaching courses in computer networking and performing activities consistent with rank, advising students and contributing to ongoing programmatic development of the department.  The position includes but is not limited to scheduling classes and classrooms, evaluating and designing curriculum, teaching program classes, analyzing community and industry needs, participating in the continuous improvement process and providing assistance to the department as needed. Applicant will possess or be able to secure an Idaho Professional Technical Education teaching credential.  

 Duties and Responsibilities

  1. Maintains a courteous, respectful, cooperative, effective, professional working relationship with colleagues, staff, students, administrators, advisory committee members and other stakeholders.
  2. Teach a full semester credit load of courses in accordance with the descriptions published in the CSI catalog.
  3. Revise and develop curriculum based on the outcome and assessment model.
  4. Strive for best practices in course delivery and instructional techniques.
  5. Evaluate and order textbooks and other instructional material.  
  6. Assume responsibility for constructing and giving  exams and other measurements necessary to determine student level of performance and understanding
  7. Evaluate needs of the program and adjust as necessary through a program development plan.
  8. Originate and recommend purchases of supplies and equipment and assist in the preparation of budget requests each year.
  9. Maintain classroom, classroom equipment and/or lab equipment as needed.
  10. Comply with all FERPA standards.
  11. Provide and assist with any necessary ADA accommodation.
  12. Maintain an active advisory committee.
  13. Establish and supervise internship opportunities for students.
  14. Maintain State of Idaho PTE certifications.
  15. And other duties as defined by the job description

Minimum Qualifications and Skills

  • Demonstrate proficiency and practical experience with
    • Microsoft Server 2008
    • XP/Windows 7 Client operating systems
    • UNIX/Linux operating system
    • HTML5/CSS
    • Javascript
    • Python
    •  PHP
    •  IOS and Android App development
    • SQL and MySQL database and database servers
    • VPN technologies
    • Storage and network encryption, forensics experience preferred
    • Application security and penetration testing and remediation
  • Evidence of achieving positive student relationships
  • Evidence of, or willingness to obtain, computer industry certifications – CCNA, Server Level MCITP
  • Ability to obtain State of Idaho Teaching certificate. (See Idaho Division of Professional-Technical Education for more information) http://www.pte.idaho.gov/Certification/Certification_Home.html
  • History of  teaching adults, experience integrating technology and implementing distance learning strategies  preferred
  • Demonstrates the ability to develop and maintain courteous, professional and effective working relationships with colleagues, staff, students, administrators and other of various cultural and socio-economic backgrounds
